Digital Arts Coordinator
After my apprenticeship with 20Twenty, I took a year away before being offered the opportunity to work with them as a digital arts coordinator. My role was to aid in the management and development of our digital arts activities in schools and other events. At the forefront of my role was the Bits&Bytes program. This program was delivered in between 4-6 primary school classes per term with the aim of helping them learn essential skills for life. One of the tools we used to do this was Lego Mindstorms. With training from raising robots, Lego education certified trainers, I was the lead delivery member within our team and managed the logistics and care of all of the lego equipment. At the end of each term, we would have a final Robot Wars Event where I would host a series of games and the program winners went to Harry Potter Studios.
As well as Bits&Bytes and other misc events, I was also the lead digital delivery member of our get creative on the ward project. In this project, I and other music-based team members would go to the child oncology unit at Addinbrooks hospital, where as well as Mindstorm programming, I would lead sessions on Garage Band, app development, coding, film and animation and even VR. The aim of the project was to provide patients with opportunities to learn new skills whilst in the hospital as well as provide much-needed activities to pass the time. It’s fair to say I really enjoyed these projects.
